Flames Acquire Lack, Murphy From Canes

The Calgary Flames acquired goalie Eddie Lack and defenseman Ryan Murphy from the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Calgary also received a seventh-round pick in the 2019 draft, and sent defenseman Keegan Kanzig and a 2019 sixth-round draft pick to Carolina. The Hurricanes will pick up half of Lack's $3 million deal next season, the last on his contract.

Stars Acquire Marc Methot From Golden Knights

The Dallas Stars have acquired defenseman Marc Methot from the Vegas Golden Knights.

In exchange for Methot, selected by Vegas from the Ottawa Senators in last week's expansion draft, the Golden Knights are getting a 2020 second-round draft selection and goaltender Dylan Ferguson, who was taken by Dallas in the seventh round of last weekend's draft.

Coyotes Trade Murphy, Dauphin To Hawks For Hjalmarsson

Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Connor Murphy and forward Laurent Dauphin.

"We are very pleased to acquire Niklas," said Chayka. "He's an elite player and one of the NHL's top defenseman. He's a warrior who played a key role in Chicago's last three Stanley Cup wins. We are thrilled to have him join our team."

Mike Smith had been a cornerstone of Arizona's franchise during six seasons in the desert, leading the Coyotes to the 2012 Western Conference finals and earning his first trip to the NHL All-Star Game last season.

The Coyotes traded their top goalie to the Flames on Saturday for the rights to unrestricted free agent goalie Chad Johnson, defensive prospect Brandon Hickey and a conditional 2018 third-round pick that could become a second-rounder if the Flames make the playoffs.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired defenseman Mirco Mueller from the San Jose Sharks.

San Jose got a second-round pick, 49th overall, and a fourth-round pick, 123rd overall. The Sharks also sent their fifth-round pick, 143rd overall, to the Devils.

The teams completed the deal just before the NHL's trade freeze for the Vegas expansion draft.

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired forward Nick Cousins from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Philadelphia got a 2018 fifth-round pick and the rights to unsigned forward prospect Brendan Warren, also sending unsigned goaltending prospect Merrick Madsen to Arizona. The teams announced the deal Friday night in advance of the trade freeze that begins Saturday afternoon before the Vegas expansion draft.

Lightning Trade Jonathan Drouin To Habs For Mikhail Sergachev

The Tampa Bay Lightning got the young defenseman they have been looking for, acquiring Mikhail Sergachev from the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for highly skilled forward Jonathan Drouin.

The teams announced the deal about 48 hours before the NHL's trade freeze prior to the Vegas Golden Knights' expansion draft. According to TSN, the Canadiens also have agreed with Drouin on the terms of a six-year contract extension through 2023 worth $33 million.

Capitals Acquire Tyler Graovac From Wild For 2018 Pick

The Capitals have acquired forward Tyler Graovac from the Wild for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

Capitals GM Brian MacLellan announced the trade Wednesday night. The deal gives Washington a second forward under contract for next season to satisfy the minimum exposure requirements for the upcoming Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft.

Because they have Graovac, the Capitals can protect center Lars Eller.
